Question: Do you feel cliches are often given a bad rap!?
Cliches Are True
Slapped senseless
Wind knocked out of sails
Rug pulled beneath your feet
torch that has been snuffed out
a tongue that has been silenced, still
cliches perfectly describes how it feels!.!.!.!.
don't quit
don't ever give up
turn the other cheek
if at first you don't succeed
get back on the horse that throws you
sometimes cliches are all that are left to say!.

indeed, sometimes that is all that is left to say to convey the way you feel with any hope of someone else understanding you!.
cliches are often given a bad rap,,, perhaps if society was not so busy always trying to reinvent the wheel,,, newer and better, shunning the old or tried and true,,, then cliches would more likely be understood for what they are!.

I enjoy cliches and quotes that are timeless and can be shared by the generations because they're so true!!! That's a good poem that you have right above - it gets right to the point about 'NEVER GIVING UP!' for those who want to give up because life can be so difficult!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I like your poem!. And yes, I feel that cliches have been give a bad rap!. As a writer, we are free to express what we desire in the way we desire!. When used appropriately, I like them as much as metaphors!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
The abuse of cliches and ignorance of the true meaning is the annoyance!. They are perfectly fine when you use them in the right situations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Cliches do not become cliches because they are meaningless!.
Yes, they are given a bad rap!.!.!.which they usually don't deserve!.

Cliches are so popular because they express truth!. Poetry should also express some kind of truth, even if it is private to the poet!.
Your poem works very well!. It expresses hope and fortitude after adversity!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Using cliches is okay if you can use a modern twist to strengthen the meaning you are trying to get across!. Otherwise it really is "same **** different day!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
Some people feel they are overused, but I love them because I am familiar with them, I understand them, they hold so much truth to them :DWww@QuestionHome@Com
