Question: Memorization tips for poetry!?
I have to memorize the poem "The Bells" by Edgar Allen Poe, what techniques are there that would help me memorize this easier!? Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Read it aloud, thinking about it, don't just blurt it out, actually think about what you're saying!. Learn four lines at a time, just read those four lines over and over again!. Then, once you've learnt that, learn the next four lines, once you've learned them, add it to the four lines previous, and go over the eight lines, e!.t!.c!.

Repetition is your friend!. Don't even try to memorize the poem at first!. Just read it aloud over and over, feeling the words and the rhythm in your mouth and in the rest of your body!. After several repetitions, you may be surprised by how much of it you've committed to memory!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What works for me is to write sections or paragraphs down on index cards and work on 1 section at a time!. I agree repetition is extremely important, but I also try word association!. I visualize the words and associate the phrase or words with a visual image or object!. (Easier said than done!.) Some people find a mnemonic is helpful, where you take the first word of each phrase and create a word that will help you remember the whole thing!.

So i had this same problem a couple of weeks ago so my dad told me to keep reading it over and over ect!. and when you feel like you have it say it with out the book in front of you it should work i did the same thing i got 100% too Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can put a couple sentences on a note card or piece of paper and memorize each one then put it together that's what i do hope it helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
