Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Figurative language: Shakespeare is mocking the conventional ways of describing a lover, in his time!. For example, instead of saying her hairs are fair wires, he says "black wires grow on her head," her cheeks have no roses, like many men claimed their lovers had!.!.!. But he turns these conventions on their head when he claims in the rhyming couplet at the end: "I think my love as rare!.!.!." These lines are more powerful than any of the false imagery he mocks in the poem, because he claims that his love is true and he sees his mistress as she really is and loves her for that!. He doesn't love her because he is deluding himself about her virtues!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
