Question: Would you care to comment on this morning walk!?
Morning Walk Around the Pond
by C!.S!. Scotkin

The sentinel Heron
stares at me
decides no threat,
resumes his high stepping
march to the tune of small fish
whistling in dark water!.

Turtles lumber on shore,
calm their shivering shells
in pools of brilliant sun!.
Ducks and mudhens splash,
squabble
slapstick routines!.

Unaware
new neighbor has arrived,
alligator staked
his claim on yonder bank,
everything changes
when morning turns warm!.

Are you sure you live in an area populated by humans and not on the Galapagos!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is delightful!. I love it when I read a poem and it hits exactly the right spot inside me waiting to be entertained, amused and enlightened!.
I mean it doesn't get much better than 'resumes his high stepping/march to the tune of small fish/whistling in dark water'

Loved it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Even when the alligator stanza hit, I felt nothing but calm from this poem!. Your words never cease to amaze and bring peace!. I was on that walk with you, still silent, watching Mother and her children enjoying the peace of sunrise!. Thank you for the reverie!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't read whistling as a sound the minnows are making, as much as a descriptive word for the speed at which they are swimming to elude the hungry beak of the great heron!.
I like this one a lot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love the saying of your Grampa - it really is very inspirational - I'll try to remember it in time of need!. Your animal renditions are very enjoyable - please continue to give nature your wonderful personalities - they are a true delight ?Www@QuestionHome@Com

We don't have such exotic creatures in Kansas!. We've got squirrels careful of the cats and teasing the dogs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
