Question: Have you ever faced a "Crossroads"!?
Crossroads

I'm there, he said,
at the crossroads
your love has
brought me here
though journey
proved
quite brutal

if I cross
the road
from
my lies to
the truth
I fear
I'll be
lost
for good
these lies
have
comforted me

yet this truth
I've failed to see
may save my life
a life to which
I said goodbye
so many
years ago!.

Booze is
killing me!.
This street I'll cross
and finally admit
my name is Jeff
and I'm
an alcoholic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that rings true for far too many folks, not just substance abusers or alcoholics!.

I've seen that crossroad from a different perspective and managed to cross to the other side with some loving direction

How said it is to "see" into the mind of an alcoholic and actually "see-through" them!. The lies, the BS, the desperation and death of "self"!.!.!.at what point is there absolutely no return !? At what point does an "on-looker" know defeat !? At what point does a "loved-one" finally come to know the worthlessness of their sorrow !?

So, "Jeff" fell into a life jacket !.!.!.good for Jeff, but what of the ones that fall on the sword !?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I suspect anyone of a certain age has faced several crossroads, has made many choices, and has some regrets (hopefully to learn from them)!. Substance abuse is not one of mine, since I do not drink, smoke, or take any drugs at all (with the exception of the caffeine in my morning coffee)!. After all, why invent more crossroads when you'll be issued your quota regardless!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"This street I'll cross
and finally admit
my name is Jeff
and I'm
an alcoholic!."

That street is the hardest one to cross!. The other side is no picnic either!. Lined with temptation on every corner!. We recovering drug addicts, at least, can be thankful that our drugs aren't legal!. This verse screams of pain and denial that finally gains sight!. Powerful write!. Thank you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The vertical form you used helped me slow the read - to see the years pass slowly!. Reading this slow and out loud works for me!.

Only one minor suggestion!.!.!.!. break at L16 ; and connect L17/18/19 to the next stanza (In my humble opinion of course)
