Position:Home>Poetry> And what of this word...always?

Question: And what of this word!.!.!.always!?
Always

And what of this word…always!?
Do we always wish it so!?
Do we always want to have it so!?
Always, evermore, eternal, too!?

The youthful eyes express their love
knowing not the word always means!.
Their idyllic innocence abounds
filled with eternal words of romance!.

In all ways, in all things this word always!.
A commitment word given so callously!.
‘Passioned night, impassioned rhetoric
dawn’s sun casts such harsh light!.

If love be always then know its meaning
of shadows and doubts and ugliness
interspaced eternal moments sweet bliss!.
Roller coaster this ride of love…always!.

You did it! A prime example of language suiting the theme!. The adult's wisdom v that of the youth!. Congratulations! Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would make one change
" Knowing not, what always means"
or "knowing not, what the word means"
it reads better and flows better,

comma after "in all things, this word always"

It doesn't make sense!.!.!. "A commitment word given so callously",
maybe a better word might be cautiously or carelessly
I like the theme and it does flow well!. Well done!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A recent survey discovered that on average love (as seen through rose-tinted glasses) lasts in marriage for 2 years, something and something (can't remember the months and weeks)!.!.!.that's a very short 'always'!.

Knowing not what the word always means (!?)
and
what about 'A commitment word given so casually' !? I think that fits better into your theme!.

Your last verse sums 'love' up beautifully!.!.!.!.love is not an absence of shadows and doubts and ugliness!. Love is remaining steadfast when reality strikes!.!.!.in sickness and in health etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm diggin' this one!. Always, in my opinion is a stronger word than hate and should be used very carefully!. When I met my wife I knew on that day that I loved her and wanted her as my partner for life and to be the mother of my children!. I told her I would love her "always"!.

('So, now, I'm praying for the end of time to hurry up and arrive, cause if I gotta spend another minute with [her] I don't think that I could really survive!. I'll never break my promise or forget my vowel, but God only knows what I could do right now!.") MeatloafWww@QuestionHome@Com
