Question: The highwayman poem!? whom does she love!?
Was the land lords daughter meant to be in love with tim the ostler, or the highwayman!? and was the highwayman meant to be the "robber" that it speaks of!?
and who were the men that tied her up!? were they king georges men!?

Dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim, the ostler listened--his face was white and peaked
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord's daughter
The landlord's black-eyed daughter;
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say:

"One kiss, my bonny sweetheart; I'm after a prize tonight,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light!.
Yet if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way!."

The word "highwayman" is synonymous with "robber!." The innkeeper's daughter loved the Highwayman, both the Highwayman and Tim loved the daughter!.!.!.no one lived Tim!.

She gave her life to save the Highwayman!. If she did not love him, then they would not have had to tie her up with a musket at her breast!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
