by Elaine Polin Do certain questions defy definition!? What is art!? What is music!? What s poetry!? When do drops of paint become art!? When do musical notes become a symphony!? When do words and lines become poetry!? Is this a poem!? Why is it a poem!? Why is it not a poem!? Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This goes all the way back to Ugg and Grugg, the first cave painter and the first art critic!. When man first looked up at the sun, the hot light burned images onto their retinas that would not go away!. Ugg was the first person to stop cowering in fear and face these entoptic images!. He spent several years staring at things and then closing his eyes, as to watch the "movie" unfolding in his mind!. He began experimenting with blood, berry juice and tree sap!. Soon, he was gallivanting all over the cliffside blow-painting murals in all the caves!. Grugg was a regular guy!. He liked to eat and make little cave babies!. It just so happened that Grugg had eaten a bad goat for breakfast the day Ugg came in to paint in his cave!. Grugg was surly and uncomfortable!. He complained about everything!. Ugg, in disgust, finally threw the paints aside, splashing it all over the cave wall!. Grugg, in exalted joy, proclaimed, "Now that is art!" The question has remained in limbo ever since!.Www@QuestionHome@Com The question is questionable!.But, the music becomes a symphony when the listener hears it and appreciates it!.The art becomes art to the person looking at it!.The poem becomes a poem when the listener hears it, feels it and gets something out of it!.Each person has different tastes in all these artistic endeavors!.Each person likes what they like, feels what they feel, hears what they hear!.It is an individual taste,Some people can't stand to hear the bag pipes, but for some they are moved to tears!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Answering your question in strict accordance with community guidelines, it is not a poem because it is simply a serious of short questions expressed in a not particularly clever, imaginative or creative way, which would distinguish the writer as someone being particularly gifted in the use of words!. People used to a simple diet of Spam may think it is the most delicious food available, but thinking so does not make it so!. Art should make one respond in some way; terror, joy, deeper understanding!. I think art succeeds when this happens!. If not, the artist has not engaged in meaningful intercourse, but intellectual masturbation!. Therefore, in my opinion, this is a poem, you made us all think and respond!.
