Question: Do you believe in the freedom of speech!?
Freedom's Fight

Once a safe haven for words to express
now hate abounds with goal to suppress
a site that lifted, made spirits soar high
turned into place to watch freedom go by!.

This site still makes my spirit soar high!. I try to ignore the drama that goes on!.!.!.I know who the helpful users are on this site and who I can trust for a true opinion on my poetry!. I've also formed some of the best friendships on this site!. It is a place for kindred spirits to gather and lift each other and teach each other!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Freedom of speech is a fine concept!. But like most concepts there is usually an equally valid counter!. Any unjustified rant or rave at another person with the sole intention of harm and distress could be defended as free speech!. As could any libel or slander!. Abstract concepts are great in and abstract world, but in the real world commonsense and some form of regulation (preferably self) must exist!. It is working with these boundaries that is the challenge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your meter is slightly off!. How about:

Once a safe haven for words to express
now hate abounds with a goal to suppress
a site that lifted, made spirits soar high
turned into a place to watch freedom die!.

Unfortunately, some of those who will support this fine sentiment will also be the same ones who place blocks on others with whom they disagree, or report because they don't like them!. Some of those who have blocked me (ha!) are free to visit my postings!.!.!.and do so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My dear, your question really is a peach
And not because it's covered, dear, with fuzz
But because you intended it to teach
What we have lost -- I doubt it ever was!.

You see, when one is mired up to the hips
In old hypocrisies, you know so well
That what was once decorum often slips
From crooked hands, but on this I shan't dwell!.

My dear, these notices I have received
In numbers I am sure would startle you;
And yet I can't help think that you're deceived
About the things those closest to you do!.

You see, they are no better than the rest
In manners or in chivalrous intent
But they have built themselves a little nest
That they despoil for that's how they are bent!.

They act aggrieved for what they deem offense,
They shun in truth those better than themselves;
Their egos, not their talents, are immense,
But mentally they are the size of elves!.

They claim they want an honest, pure critique
Of what they've written but it's quite a lie;
And yet their weakness, it is not unique,
Their fawning ways no good man dare deny!.

And so they gather daily here to chat
And shake in outrage when their number's called;
In fact, when you have full digested that
Which I have said, from you will I be walled!?

To prate about a freedom is one thing
To live with honor quite another still;
You've built the gibbet, from it may you swing
If you lie to yourself -- in fact all will!.

My lesson in morality's complete
So study hard for you will have a test;
I've sifted chaff and given you the wheat
It's up to you and yours to do the rest!.

Yahoo!Answers has always been like this!. The service in only about three years old, or so!. Annabella says there was no poetry section when it first started!.

I've been here almost two years!. I have seen the same basic pattern repeat itself with alomst every user!.

We love it, we use it, we get tired of it, we leave for a while, we come back!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know what you got violated for but stuff 'em anyway!

Keep writing, it bugs the negative ones to death if you just keep going!. Eventually they'll shrivel and die!.

Iano has it right, keep open and keep going!.

People with nothing more to do
pick out an answer with out a clue
so reporting it is what they knew
without thinking, that's what they do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I definitely believe in freedom of speech, but unfortunately a lot of people think their opinions are the only ones that matter!. Keep telling it the way it is and so will we!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What is free I ask my self
and I answer me
Nothing, nothing is free
some one, some thing
pays the price
No safe haven
I have ever seen or been
as freedoms rights
ever have been abused,
especially speech!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is America!. People are entitled to their opinions!. We need not react to every negative opinion expressed in either the virtual or real world!.
