Question: Can you help me annolize this poem!?
To An Athlete Dying Young

THE time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high!.

To-day, the road all runners come, 5
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town!.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay, 10
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose!.

Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers 15
After earth has stopped the ears:

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man!. 20

So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup!.

And round that early-laurelled head 25
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's!.

You really need to learn to do this!. I will give you a start!. This goes from what happened long ago to the present (not our present)

1st stanza
THE time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high!.

You won the race and we carried you through town!.
Everyone stood cheering!.

2nd stanza

To-day, the road all runners come, 5
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town!.

Today, the same road you ran
we're still carrying you through town
(a stiller town) everyone is quiet -- a funeral

now it's your turn

please do your own work the title of the poem seems to explain the general idea of the poem!. it is not that difficult!. Think of someone in the Olympics, maybe recent- where do think that person will be in 40 years!? Or think of someone past like Mary Lou Retton!. Analyze the poem using knowledge you already have!.

what happens to athletes when they no longer can run and win, swim and break records, retire and others take their places!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
