Question: ashes to ashes my rose !. I wrote this poem after my grandma died enjoy!?
Walking with a slight bend
she puttered through her yard
slowly she bent forward
stopping to smell a delicate pink rose!.
Checking her box for a letter or card
in hopes someone did send!.
Her apron tied loosely around her thick waist
with empty hands
she walked the stone path
on which she had traveled
so many times before!.
Passing the roses once more
something caught her eye
carefully she plucked a fallen rose
that lay faded and alone
after careful examination she placed it behind her ear!.
As a silent tear rolled down her cheek
dreaming of yesterdays reliving them one by one
dreading tomorrows
for those she did fear!.
As the day drew close to an end
she rested with her favorite cup
her favorite tea in the cool of the shade
she rocked in silence her withered hands resting
across her lap they laid
the rose still in tact…she gazed up into the sky!.
A peaceful smile crossed her tired face
a gentle breeze blew silent
as she closed her eyes in rest
she knew her day had come
for she had passed her final testWww@QuestionHome@Com

That is one of the most heart felt well written poems, I have ever read!. Mine included!. I could see my great grandmother in my mind while reading it!.
Her passing was very similar to your grandmothers passing!.
That was back in 1972!. Thank you for sharing it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

So sweet, and it shows such a sweet soul, the peacefulness and the aloneness of old age, plus the wisdom to accept that this is the way of things!. Very poignant and yet reassuring!.
