Question: After stopping at a store today, I was compelled to write this, comments!?

Oh, Christmas Tree, Updated, based on the carol, “Oh, Tannenbaum”
by C!.S!. Scotkin

Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree,
Why are you in the windows!?
Of stores and shops
My heart, it drops
Like leaves when heavy wind blows!.
It isn’t even Halloween,
What happened to Thanksgiving!?
Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree
Why are you in the windows!?

Oh Christmas Tree,
Oh Christmas Tree,
Remember now the old days
When you were real
With scent, ideal
Not plastic made in China!.
What happened to those happy days,
Of simple gifts and heartfelt praise!?
Oh Christmas Tree,
Oh, Christmas Tree
Remember now the old days!.

And weep!.!.!.

Bulletin from "Daily World News"

A meeting of the worlds main commercial stores held at the Hague, voted unanimously to support the move by a majority of the worlds governments to have Christmas Day celebrated seven days a week!.

No tariffs will be required where Christmas Imports are made of plastic and are guaranteed to break within the prescribed twenty four hours of use!.

Your poem has hit home to everyone I am sure!.

When a child, one of the highlights of the year was the lighting of the christmas lights in the town, and the displays in the department stores!. Now the lights on the streets stay up all year, and they turn them on for a week a Christmas time, and the stores sell Christmas from Sept!. to November Then Start on Easter!. And as for the chinese!?!? they are the ones who make all the stuff the stores have to sell since Reagan make the trade deal that allows there poisoned paint products to be sent here duty-free!. Do I sound a tad Bitter!? I have had 4 companies I worked for go out of business, and 1 of them moved to mexico after NAFTA was signed by Bill (Pot Head) Clinton!. So between losing American jobs to China and Mexico, and being forced to buy products from these countries, I may be a tad bitter!. Please send me back to 1955 or to Mars!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm surprised the the "trees" are out already - just shows how the economy is hurting for money!. I hope they are just for display - not sale!. A real, dried-up one would not last until New Year's!. (That is when we used to take the tree down)!. We always had a aluminum tree with "tree" scent - my mom did not like the risk of fires ?Www@QuestionHome@Com

So sad you have to laugh!.!.!.Each year it seems to get earlier! At least they used to wait until after Halloween!.
I love this:
"What happened to those happy days
Of simple gifts and heartfelt praise!?"
That says it all!.

*Think of the poor cashiers in those stores who have to listen to the tinny holiday tunes day after day!.!.!.!.Talk about going mad! (I was one of them once!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wonderful!.!.!.!.and so true!. When we were little Mum only put up our decorations and decorated our little tree on Christmas Eve, after we were in bed!.!.!.and in the morning after finding our pillow-cases with gifts at the end of our beds, we went into the living room!.!.!.and it was just like fairy-land!. Magical!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Commercialization of Christmas has !.!. sadly!.!.!. taken the joy and love out of it!.!.
I remember the simplicity and love surrounding the occasion, the carroling and the Christmas plays at school!.!.!. In DECEMBER of the year!.!.!.

Two weeks ago the Nursing Home went on a trip to the mall!. I had to explain to the resident that I was in charge of, why do the stores have Christmas decorations in the window already!? So I hear what you are saying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I didn't weep, I laughed, but you are right!. It is impossible to buy summer clothing in July and by October, all winter clothing is gone!. The world has gone mad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The USA is becoming so commercially oriented!. It is all about money!. I am not Christian but, it is in very poor taste to start Christmas items now!
So, yes I like the poem!Www@QuestionHome@Com

thankfully we DO still have the memories to fall back on of a time when Christmas was respected and blessed with gifts of the heart, more than excessive splurges of the walletWww@QuestionHome@Com
