Writer's World

All day we think of things to write,
We dream of verse throughout the night!.
We write it down in couplet rhyme,
And make it bounce in four-four time!.

Or else we give it random form,
Where rhyming lines are not the norm!.
And what we write may be the best,
But we won't think it passed the test!.

We read what someone else has wrote,
It seems they made an awesome quote!.
We wish that we could write so well,
So ours would ring the big brass bell!.

I see the things that others write,
With ink of black on paper white!.
And wish I was as good as they,
When they read mine, that's what they say!.

I think the reason many poets don't like their own work is because most poets hold themselves to extremely high standards, and automatically when they read their own work they see what they could have done better!. Sometimes it's just that they read it and think, "That's not what I originally thought at all," while others who couldn't possibly know that simply see the words and what they mean!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Genuine poets would see true meaning behind other poets work!. The casual reader may or may not find something of meaning in poetic works!. Still yet there are some who write poetry and naturally feel that someone wrote better than them!. But the confident one will absorb another poet's work in stride without feeling inferior!. Then again some might find motivation to work even harder to make his/her work even better!. I see numerous answers to your question!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are right!. This song is impossible for most of us to write!. I believe in all this time,I have written perhaps two pieces that can actually be called 'poems' by those who know what poetry is!. This early morning I ripped my heart out and emptied it's contents all over a blank Windows document!.

With my free hand I smeared the garbage madly across the surface, searching for 'stuff'!.

All I found was a bad War-ku, which I deleted 10 minutes after posting!.

I spent the rest of the day offering lame replies to awesome poets!.

I'm not competitive by nature!. I run my own race!. Each of us has a style of handwriting that is as unique as a fingerprint!. There is a lot of people here that I admire and I try to let them know and support and encourage those that need it!.

This is so true Dondi!.!.!.!.so true!. When I complete a poem, I am happy on first reading!.!.!.it looks better!. But then after, doubts pop in!. Sometimes I think everyone writes better, sometimes I think I do pretty good!. Then I read something by you and realize I will never get to be as good as you!. I will keep trying though, and as long as you keep teaching me, I keep getting a little better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I saw the question, before I opened it and read the rhyme!.!.!.my mind went 'Oh, most definitely' - I won't name any names, but everyday I see poems on this site which I would love to claim as my own!. But, in reading the work of others who have soared to great heights, I do feel I am lifted up!.!.!.and sometimes, if the wind is in the right direction, and the gods are smiling (for once) I, find words to express a poem which even satisfy me!.
