A lot would depend upon the relationship!. Cole Porter said, "You're the cream in my coffee, you're the milk in my tea!" Another relationship might be a storm upon the cold and jagged rocks of a deserted coastline!. Yet another with a different take on the same imagery might be the waves that gently lap against the shore as the tide ebbs and flows!. Some relationships are a shipwreck, others a peaceful canoe ride!. Omar Khayim said, "A loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and thou!." You might be able to tell a lot about the people in the relationship of this song's metaphor "Oh, It's a long, long time, from May to December, but the days grow short, When you reach November!. When the autumn wind, turns the leaves to flame, One hasn't got time, for the waiting game!. And soon I'll hear, Old winter's song! Oh the days dwindle down, To a precious few, September, November, but these few precious days I'll spend with you, These precious days I'll spend with you!"Seasons have long been used as a metaphor for relationships, Shakespeare said, "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day!?"

Or try this metaphor from the play itself:
Love goes toward love as schoolboys from their books,
But love from love, toward school with heavy looks!. (Romeo, Act 2, Scene 2) If you look further the play is full of metaphors, both from the principals and other actors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
