Question: Is this a simile or a metaphor and what two things are being compared!? Please I beg you all to help me!.!?

"Because it rained cats and dogs, the cheetahs had to cut back their hunting"!.

I think that this is a metaphor, is it!? And what two things are being compared!?

yes, it is a metaphor and i beleive that what is being compared is the rain!.!.the amount of it rather, comparing it that its like raining ccats and dogs!.!. i hope that helped, hun =)!. that one was a toughie!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It compares "rain" with "cats and dogs!." (Actually, I never really understood that expression!. But I digress!.) It is a metaphor!. A simile is a kind of metaphor that uses the words, "like" or "as!." The same line as a simile, "Because it rained LIKE cats and dogs!.!.!." Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yeah it's a metaphor!. a simile uses the words like or as i!.e!. if it said:
It rained like cats and dogs it would be a simile!.
The two things being compared is "rain" and "cats and dogs"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
