Heather’s Deepest Fear

This one gets his money’s worth,
reveling
in the spasm of violence
which will go untold
and unavenged;

her occupational hazard!.


Heather’s Night in Jail

Last night, Heather
spent the night in jail!.
Shaking, sweating, she called the man, made bail!.
The police confiscated
all she had!. So when
they let her go
she hit the streets again!.


Heather’s First Hit

Heather rises
in the warm of the afternoon,
trembles as she surveys her room,
dank and grimy,
rented by the week!.
She blindly gropes for the coffee
she doesn’t even bother
to re-heat
and for the first hit of the day!.
