It's not quite accurate to say that the book was banned!. The publisher of "Howl and Other Poems" was arrested and tried on obscenity charges, as was the manager of a store where the book was sold!. But they won the case!. Their court victory and the press coverage the case attracted created a huge demand for the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that you have a misconception of what it means to ban a book!.

Challenging a book means that a parent at a school or library says that they want the book removed from the library!. Then there is a meeting with usually the PTA, or, if it's a public library, the city council, and they decide if the book should be removed from that certain establishment!. Banning a book doesn't mean it's banned from publication!. It means that it's removed from a certain library or school!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
