Question: Poem for my brother on his birthday, gone a month now!?
Empty bottles lined a kitchen wall, perfect spacing, enemy soldiers in formation!.
The rest, the aftermath of war, dishes overturned on couches, floors, places no one else would eat!.
Endless carpets of hair from those you named "nice kitties", with empty bowls, crying for the friend who wouldn't rise!.

I sort through every box, bottlecap, slip of paper!. What is garbage, what is you!?
Will my foraging through your life show the way I could have saved you!?
"Monster Ballads" and yellowed wedding pictures, children miles away, forgot your birthday when you were alive!.

Hospital bracelets, discharge papers, saying, "no more alcohol", strewn in every room!.
Nice kitties leaving hairballs on my couches now, all is well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

touching, direct, no BS!. invites us into a home we'll never see but we've all been in!.

damn that's tuff!. recently lost my wife, OD, so i can totally relate to the "foraging" to see how you could have "saved" him!. time, brother time!. that's all i can say!. well, time and keep writing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Very poignant and, at least to me, as clear a picture of the aftermath of a death that could possibly been avoided as any I've ever seen!.

I hope in time that your grief will be tempered, but I think the poem should stand as it is, because it's an outpouring of your own emotions and a real heart cry that touches a chord in anyone who has lost a loved one to habits that can often lead to self-destruction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
