Elaine, I'm so sorry!. It is very hard working in a facility like that!. I had a pet therapy dog that I took in every week for almost a year, and each time we went in, another of our favorites was gone!. It got so that King, my goldie, would stop at the threshhold of the door to each room to see if there was a new person in the bed, if so, he would turn to look at me without going any further to prepare me for what I would find!.
Eventually, I lost too many Louise's to continue volunteering!.

After a certain age, or terminal painful illness, my thoughts always go to, "Death where is thy sting!." The sting is left behind for me!.
Not to the one departed, and so I am left with bitter/sweet joy of what was, what is!. Strange that death takes us by surprise, but it does!.
Even tho!. we are born to die, at any unknown moment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This isn't a skit - it's a slice of life (or death)!.!.!.I had a friend, Norman, who I only got to know when he was terminally ill and in such a short time he became so important to me!. After he died the tears flowed everytime I thought about him!. Both my daughters are care assistants in homes for the elderly!.!.!.I don't know how they do it!.

!.!.!.!.I was expecting humour!.!.!.!.and got tears!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as you live you never get used to Death!. I have nothing profound to say except that I shall miss Louise!. She will live forever in Martian annals and in all our hearts, but most especially your's!. Blessings on you and your loving volunteer work!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh Elaine, I feared this was coming from the last dialogue!. I'm so sorry! I don't even know them and this a tough deal first thing in the morning!.
Blessings to you, Virginia and Louise, God keep her!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Louise is at peace, it's those who loved her and are left you are suffering!. My heartfelt best wish go out to them all!. I will miss her in your skits!.

That's what I would say if I were your playwriting teacher!.

You have encapsulated the phone message into two words "Oh, no!" - from that - the worst has been assumed!. What emotion and loss has been transferred by just using the assumptive form!. My sympathy ?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It will be said, that it is a well-written script!. The story flows without a hitch!. I am sorry about Louise!. You must press on regardless!. You are needed by the Old Folks!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

She/He will love it as I do!. If the teacher is really real!. A tear or two for Louise and a bunch of tears for her friends!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

She'd probably say "I'm sorry, but you must continue your volunteer work"!. (or something to that effect)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Very sad story!. Unfortunately when you work in a Nursing Home you see this stuff every other day!. You get very close to them!. I always tell myself that they went home with a family member!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that's amazingWww@QuestionHome@Com

I wasn't expecting that, as I'm sure you weren't either!. My condolences!.
Think of what Louise would want you to do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is good!. You could get a job on "Days of our Lives!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't have any idea what your teacher would say!. What I would say is that you are presenting a typical slice of life of TODAY! You have just experienced a loss!. And you are overwhelmed!. You try to explain to your boss in a hedged way that you will not be able to be there to assist her with her program!. She makes the appropriate condolences but she still does not respect the uniqueness, seriousness of your situation, so she presses for more!.
You, instead of telling her;'Hey, I have just lost someone, get a replacement!.!.end of badgering this time, is that clear!?' Then instead of placing the receiver down as your alert guts command, you decide to hedge your own needs, compromising them, because the society has BLURRED all lines of boundaries!.
You have lost t your sense of indignation, at this person depreciating your unfortunate event by bypassing it, and still pressing it to you!. No respect from her!.
No full recognition of that (lack of) from you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think she would say Bravo for helping and caring for these folks at this home' and how hard it is to lose a friend there when God calls them home' but that your a great lady to be there and treat these great folks like they are relatives of sorts!.I love your play and one day you should really write one and maybe we'll see the name Elaine on Broadway!.!.Thank-you for being there and being such a grand friend to the people there as many have no one else in the world but you' and the others that run the place!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
