Question: Can you analise this poem for me!?!?!? judith wright!?
MAGPIES

Along the road the magpies walk
with hands in pockets, left and right!.
They tilt their heads, and stroll and talk!.
In their well-fitted black and white

they look like certain gentlemen who seem most nonchalant and wise
until their meal is served - and then
what clashing beaks, what greedy eyes!

But not one man that I have heard
throws back his head in such a song
of grace and praise - no man nor bird!.
Their greed is brief; their joy is long!.
For each is born with such a throat
as thanks his God with every note!.

She's drawing an analogy between magpies and people, comparing them to dignified gentlemen strolling down the road!. The "well fitted black and white" refers to a suit that gentlemen would wear, and at the same time refers to the magpies feathers!. And although the magpies drop this charade of being gentlemen when there is food around "their greed is short lived" and is replaced by their song!. She discusses their song as being a gift from God and when they sing they are praising God for giving them such a beautiful voice that gives them and everyone around them joy!. It's about God creating a creature that has two very different sides - the greedy and the beautiful!. Much like people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
