PLEONASM
Yes, I am the Wordmonger,
purveyor of elucidation,
Keeper of oration's flame,
Sans hesitation!.
Some take me to task, excoriate,
Like the London Blitz!.
They rant at me for using words,
That really do exist!.
Why do you say 'extraordinary'
When you should use 'good'!?
I answer "Why do you say 'should',
When you should use 'could'!?"
And what the hell does 'apocryphal'
And 'surreptitious' mean!?
Well, the former is too good to be true,
And the latter means clandestine!.
Reiterate!? Perambulate!?
You psuedo-intellectual!
My retort to that might be,
"Inconsequential!"
Occasionally the words don't come,
And I am left quite speechless,
Thank You, God, for Webster's 9th,
And Roget's Thesaurus!
My use of words, to illuminate,
At least I penned a poem,
Elaboration could spew forth,
And you'd have to read a tome!.
Last, not least, I have to say,
Minus machination,
It gives me joy and fun to be,
A word and phrase equestrian!.
