When Cartesium said this phrase he meant " Dubito ergo sum", infact this phrase was born to Methodical Cartesian Doubt:

This Philosopher thought that nothing in the Universe is sure, so we have to be uncertain of everything!.!.!. We can only be sure that we are doubting, so exist a " Thinking I" !.!.!. Cogito ergo sum!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are a poet, but not just because you think you are!. My theory is that you are a poet when others bestow that title upon you!. This can only be done by producing poetic art that is part learned and part natural!. Therefore, despite the single, lonely, little dissenting voice, I would have to say that you are indeed a poet because the majority has already proclaimed it so and because your serious works are exceptional!. Well I believe you are for one and a good one at that! As far as you question are you a poet just because you think you are, probably, act as if you are and you will be, or eventually be! Maybe study enhances poetry, but I have read poetry that I thought was very good and I would say study didn't have much to do with it as much as talent!

If you do have the time TD I posted this and Rennie told me you should look at it to give me a more exact opinion to it! Honesty is all I am looking for or corrective criticism! I would appreciate it, thanks! Link below--thanks! Cheers!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am taking no sides here,, Iano, please could we see either your poetry or else what you consider to be poetry!?

I find your comments on this forum unreasonably aggressive for what appears to be some personal reason against TDU!.

I write and post here with no other motive than enjoyment, I do not consider myself a poet of any great skill or gravitas, but nonetheless, like any enthusiastic amateur I like to participate!. Preferably in a convivial atmosphere!.

If this is anathema to you, then in the words of one of the finest men I ever met, "Go stick your head up a dead bear's ar*e!"

I do not take myself seriously, there are enough pompous eejits in the world without adding any!. I suggest you examine how you yourself are appearing to others!. That is a genuine comment, not an insult!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Robert Frost: The Man and His Work - 1923

"Sometimes I have my doubts of words altogether, and I ask myself what is the place of them!. They are worse than nothing unless they do something; unless they amount to deeds, as in ultimatums or battle-cries!. They must be flat and final like the show-down in poker, from which there is no appeal!. My definition of poetry (if I were forced to give one) would be this: words that become deeds!."

"All poetry is a reproduction of the tones of actual speech!."

"There are two types of relists: the one who offers a good deal of dirt with his potato to show that it is a real one, and the one who is satisfied with the potato brushed clean!. I'm inclined to be the second kind!. To me, the thing that art does for life is to clean it, to strip it to form"

"A poem begins with a lump in the throat; a home-sickness or a love-sickness!. It is a reaching-out toward expression; an effort to find fulfillment!. A complete poem is one where an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found the words!."

No Sir you are a poet as you have been at it a long time and have paid your dues i;m sure!.Anyone who can write so many types of great poems that many of us like ' and have written books and gotten published ' makes you a poet' and you are one of my favorite of all time!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. Poetry requires knowledge, experience, practice and courage!. Poetry is not prose set into lines!. I could not be a carpenter, an astronaut, a teacher without study, effort and time!. Neither could I be a poet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can't be a poet just because you research poetry!. It's not a homework assignment, but a feeling!. As long as you write what you feel, and it sounds good, then you are a poet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are not a poet simply because you think you are!. You are a poet because words are the instruments you play in a symphony of rhythmic prose!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

or is it the other way TD!?
I exist, therefore I think!. The existentialists say it that way!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

well no, but i credit your skill and person as one for sure!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Catch the screen door next time, TD!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, that's an easy one in your case!. No!.

It was meant to be!. That's the trouble with the 'Martian' crowd - not only do they take themselves too seriously, they do it with others as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
