Question: Can I have your business card!?
Business Cards
Collected introductions, through the years
names, titles, phone numbers, emails…
Points in space, first contacts, last contacts,
thousands in a box, a lifetime there, saved!.
Saved for what!? What possesses me to hold!?
Most have moved on, changed careers, jobs
some retired, others… probably died!.
So why do I refuse to throw away these cards!?
Cards of printed ink, some designer right,
others, designer slight, still…memories!.
Memories for me, memories of events, places
and memories of all the… personalities!.
Though I kept no journal of my wanderings,
miles in the air, endless hotels, rental cars,
trade shows, speeches and conferences…
these collected introductions serve to remind!.
Remind me where I been, who I was, what I did
through years, decades and going forward still!.
Business cards in a box, collecting layered dust!.
I wonder if they kept my introduction!?

I am sorry to say this, but I seriously doubt that they kept yours!.
At most they hung on to it for a year, and when they still did not need to contact you they cleaned out there desk!.
And I ask you, what do these cards do for you!? What can they do for you!? Nothing, you can remember without them, and you need to let go of the past!. It is gone, move on!. This is harsh, but they are not of value, not even sentimental value to you!. I say this because these people were not your friends, you can remember there faces, your paths crossed and that is all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I do the complete opposite; I throw them things away every time I'm sitting around, waiting at a doctors office or something--I only give them a one year shelf life!. My dad collects them is probably why I don't!. Or, it could just be I get fidgety at the doctors and it gives me something to do!. That being said: I enjoyed the poem, for what it said!. That's a poet finding meaning that's hidden everywhere, even in the most mundane!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
