Question: Who can tell me why I should say what and how I dream!?
Dreaming of War
by Elaine Polin

Standing with people
known and unknown
mingling in streets
all garbage-strewn!.

Struggling to enter
deserted stores
seeing bare shelves
emptied by war!.

Out in sharp cold
pelted by snow
hearing loud guns
above, below!.

Nightmarish world
swift-changing scenes
why these dreams now
what does it mean!?

I'm old enough (barely) to remember World War II, living in Chicago when food was rationed!. I was just 4 years old when the war ended!.

I remember bare shelves and I remember reading of the nightmares of people who suffered from being near to combat!.

I am also a Vietnam War veteran!. I can relate to this poem and to your dream!. Very illustrative of what man goes through in conflict!.

I have to say that I enjoyed the poem!. It is an extremely thoughtful poem with an interesting message!. When I look at poetry, the first thing I notice is the rhyme scheme and how well the rhyming is pulled off!. Due to that fact, a few of the stanzas were a little less enjoyable than they could be!. Umm!.!.!. I'm not sure if I'm answering any question or if there is any question to be answered at all LOL, but I'm just voicing my opinion about the poem!.

Oh and to your additional details: It's nice that you defend people that are just voicing their opinion (even if it is just a short sweet "WTF" comment), but the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons are the only thing that allow people to voice their own opinions about other people's opinions if that makes sense!. If they weren't meant to be used then they wouldn't have been put there!. That aside, it's quite refreshing to see someone respond in that fashion to such an interesting comment o!.oWww@QuestionHome@Com

Elaine-
To me, what makes a poem good, is if someone will remember it!.
This was indeed memorable!.
A "wake-up" call, in fact!.
As I was reading, I began to picture the broken glass of the store fronts, and the sound of guns piercing the air!.
In my mind, it could be the same scene playing over and over, of all this senseless fighting!.
A true nightmare shared by all!.

when God speak to us He can use dreams and visions you dream is very much a warning, but to who!? I love this type of poetry from you it tells me there is a prophetess in the House!. I have experienced similar warnings, unfortunately i seem to have fallen out with my contacts as they don't respond any more and i don't know why, perhaps someone could shed some light!?

Intake of breath!.!.!.

This kind of dream is fairly typical when under stress, facing a challenge, juggling life's balls with one hand, facing a red-line deadline, etc, etc!.( If that was your question!.) More wine, please, waiter!.

If not, then yeah! I like it!.

To me, to dream of war is to dream of possible peace, for to see the horrors of war is to give strength to change!. This is very well said!. My compliments!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is very vivid and brought 3 different images to mind
1!. The Holocaust
2!.Post hurricane or other devastating storm
3!.The war of which you dream!.
