Fire Wingeds

Regale, oh regale please, once again,
again, let us taste the words you say
lift us from these days of constant pain!.
and sing to us of worlds far, far away!.

“Far away”…the prophet began, “far away
was a land where fire wingeds ruled,
and people lived beneath ‘rocken’ doors!.
until a day that noble knight arrived,
arrived, armed with lance and shield,
and with shield and lance he promised
a world of riches, a world of forevers!.
For he would rid them of fire wingeds,
these fire wingeds rule he would sever
and he would cast them each and all to hell!.
To hell, for surely they were demons!
And these people arose and gave song,
a song, joyous for this freedom’s gift
and the riches that he rightly promised!.
But the joys turned to yokes of chains
as the chains were quickly shackled
and the true color of knight emerged
darkest black, emerged to ensnare them all!.
Centuries passed and folk tales were sung,
sung of times when fire wingeds reigned!.
when life was fair and honor ruled,
ruled over people in peaceful peace!.”

The people paused the prophet and asked:
“Is not there some magic anywhere!?
Anywhere some magic like this, to
help up arise and throw down our chains
these chains of shame to claim our lands!
Are there not any fire wingeds left,
fire wingeds to overthrow our demon!?”

The prophet heard their pleas and spoke;
“And who among you would know,
know the true heart of the next savior!?
Would you walk in blindness to hear,
hear golden bells that turn to chains!?
Or would you write history right
right by choosing the path that’s right!?
I would choose to follow no promise made
but the fire in my heart that lifts me!.
Lifts me on wings of fire for then I…
then I would be truly, a fire winged
