Question: Does this poem adequately describe poetry's transition from classical to post modernism!?
Poetry was a guy
Dressed in a three-piece suit and tie
With golden cuff links!.
He had a distinguished beard,
Like Abraham Lincoln’s,
And he was recognized everywhere he went!.

When he entered the room, people noticed!.
He was the topic of conversations
And was invited to join them when he was present!.
People from all over would brag
That they knew Poetry!.

Then someone asked him to remove his jacket
To reveal his slightly less formal side
Some people resented the new look
But most adjusted
They removed his vest
Loosened his tie
Took off his cuff links
To show him how to have a good time

eventually poetry undressed entirely
he shaved his beard
danced naked in his living room
enjoyed his formless freedom
then poetry tried leaving his living room
naked

no one recognized him any longer
he wondered why
occasionally someone would stare
but that was because he was naked
not because he was poetry

poetry began to get cold
and frightened
and began to shiver
he went inside to get warm
the people were discussing poetry
there were a lot more people
then he remembered

a few people at the door looked at him with disgust
hoping he would leave
but poetry was cold
and frightened
and lonely

he tried to discuss poetry with the people
but they ignored him
scorned him
told him to leave
they said he had no right
to discuss something he knew nothing about
especially since he was under dressedWww@QuestionHome@Com

I know not about classical poetry, unless you are referring to romantic writers and their progression into the victorian period!. But the moderns was all about writing poetry that did not have a specific meaning, a sort of play on words way of telling the reader what the author is thinking about!. They wrote more for visual effect, less for meaningWww@QuestionHome@Com
