Question: A Poem - The Blue and Red - Does it have too many cliches!? Or did I get away with them!?!
On this blue planet of earth
Resides lovers who have birthed
Joy and poetry
For angels to see
Their joining of a heart's worth

On the red planet of Mars
Resides poets far and large
Words of wonder
Songs of splendor
Left behind the orb that was

The best of two worlds collide
Friends, lovers, poets abide
Ideals and dreams
Riding star beams
All existing side by sideWww@QuestionHome@Com

Only fellow poets hate cliches, the rest of the world loves them; and there are so few poets these days!. A poets hands should not be tied because others may have covered the same ground; unless you've read the works of every poet how would you know what's a cliche (I admit some are obvious)!? I think people are criticized too much for using cliches when their writing is excellent!. Aren't cliches a way to bring our uneducated youth into a world they are not familiar, because they love the images of stars, the moon, the sun, the weather!? Are the words less beautiful because they are said in a similar way to another!? If you can write beautiful write whatever you want, I'll read it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have made the cliche original again!. And, personally, the only reason a cliche becomes cliche is because it's so damn good that people have to keep using over and over again!.

I was talking with a friend last night; she pointed Mars out to me!. I asked if she could see my house!. That got a laugh, and then many questions!.

Beautiful poem!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

a toothsome extravaganza of well-written image-cliches!
It works!.!.!.because of the consistency, lovely images, and gorgeous to read!
Cliches only stand out, when the rest of the poem has none but that one or two!.!.!.then the cliche(s) glare and spoil!.!.!.not so here!
Kudos, madam!

A brilliant poem!.!.!. as all your poems are!. And, in my humble opinion, the cliches work perfectly, and completely fit the poem!. I love the second and third last lines!. Fantastic as always! Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'll let you get away with the cliches because I am excited about riding those star beams and sharing dreams with the other poets!Www@QuestionHome@Com
