Question: Who did you play with today!?
For my Granddaughter, part two
by C!.S!. Scotkin

I had the greatest treat today!
hopped in the car and went to play
with Emmy, my granddaughter!.

My sweet Emmy is four months old
not old enough, so I’ve been told
to understand our language!.

When I arrived, she was awake,
into my arms I did take
this precious, lovely child!.

Recited to her, poetry!.
Captive audience, I and she
read and feel the rhythms!.

I read mine, and some from you,
in her face search for a clue!.
She understands all I recite!.

She smiled, cooed, in joy raised arms,
meter and rhythm must have charms
to delight this little darling!.
