Question: Do you bake your own bread!?
Baking day
By C!.S!. Scotkin

I need a loaf of bread,
I forgo the shop!.
Take my bread bowl
off the top
shelf!.

Measure all ingredients
the way I was taught!.
use my hands,
simply thought
with intuition!.

Very imprecise!.
preserves the mystery
of foremothers who
passed to me
their knowledge!.

Knead dough, it feels right
satiny, fragrant ball
home smells of yeast
I feel small,
a link in a chain!.

Chance for reflection,
awaiting the rise,
seeing history through
my eyes,
women bake bread!.

It will be done soon,
warm, brown and fine,
do have a piece,
drink my wine!.
communion with the past!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes I bake my own bread!. These days I'm so busy but you get the same flavor of plain old white bread minus all of the preservatives!. And you can also experiment with different types of flour and mix-ins!.!.!.making a loaf of cinnamon swirl bread is fairly easy for any novice to conquer!.

Baking bread can be labor intensive (you have to knead it for 10 minutes, let it rise for an hour, punch it back down, let it rise again) but there is something satisfying about making your own bread!. There are few foods simpler and better than a warm slice of toast made from homemade bread topped with some good butter or jam!Www@QuestionHome@Com
