I'm so sorry for your loss, here's a poem I worte, it's ublished in my last anthology, "To hear a silent voice"!.

A Mother’s Goodbye!.
A stare of blindness,
A touch of prayer,
A cast of silence,
You’re no longer there,
A mother’s touch,
A heart of gold,
A mind of secrets,
None you told,
A home you made,
A home for all,
A home that’s safe,
The home did fall,
A mother is gone,
An angel is born,
A memory has left,
Her children torn,
A love has not stopped,
A love is still here,
A love is forever,
Her love is near!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Funeral Blues
by W!. H!. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come!.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public
doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves!.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong!.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood!.
For nothing now can ever come to any good!.

You can modify this to make it for a mother by using she in place of the he!. You can also modify the my for our to make it a poem for the family!. This was read in the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral and it has always stuck in my head as something that comes close to expressing grief!. Hope this helps you out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm very sorry to hear about the death of your mother!. I hope you and your family will know peace in the days to come!. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost is a beautiful poem about life and death:

Nature's first green is gold,
It's hardest hue to hold,
Her early leaf's a flower,
But only so an hour,
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
And dawn goes down today:
Nothing gold can stay!.

I'm not 100% on the text, I'm quoting it from memory, but it's very beautiful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am so sorry for your loss !.!.!. below is a very short poem in honor of your mom's passing!. I hope you like it enough to use it; in any case, you have my deepest sympathy!.
**************************************!.!.!.
Our mother was a woman unique in her own way;
There are not enough words for any of us to say
How very much She's missed, triple that for being loved;
Our only comfort is She's at peace with GOD above!.
**************************************!.!.!.
Besides the above very short poem I composed just for your mom, I remembered receiving the below poem that was part of a sympathy card I received when my own mom passed away -- it is so beautiful and inspiring:

The Rose Beyond The Wall

A rose once grew where all could see,
Sheltered beside a garden wall,
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
It spread its branches, straight and tall!.

One day, a beam of light shone through
A crevice that had opened wide-
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
Then passed beyond to the other side!.

Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
Be comforted - the rose blooms there-
It's beauty even greater now,
Nurtured by God's own loving care!.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep!.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow!.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain!.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night!.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room!.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing!.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there!. I do not die!.

Mary Frye (1905 - 2004)

I'm very sorry to hear of your mother's death!. I hope you and yours are taking good care of yourselves in this terribly difficult time!.

Here are a few poems that the Poetry Foundation has settled on as good for funerals!. Some of them are for specific kinds of funerals, though, which unfortunately means you'll probably have to go through a lot of them to find one you'd find appropriate!. Still, you could probably adapt some for the death of your mother or just choose a piece of one to read!.

One poem I was surprised not to see on the list is William Cullen Bryant's "Thanatopsis!."
