There are a number of different way to interpret!. First is literally: the raven never left and if there is a supernatural cause or force behind it, then it too is there, haunting the speaker!. Next, you could make the case that there was NEVER a raven, but only the dark figments of the speakers mind!. It grew in his imagination until his own eyes and ears began creating it for him!. It will never leave: "nevermore'!. Third, half and half!. The raven flew in and then left, but it so disturbed the speaker that he sees it still and will always see it!. You could make a clever argument for any of these, citing the poem's other stanza's!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That you can't avoid your ghosts!. No matter what you do they will always be there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
