Aquatic Soul

Slipping to the ocean floor
In your warm plastic cocoon
Tethered to the mother ship
Unaware of sun or moon

Your task to tap into the earth
Providing comfort for the masses
Floating free while you toil
Sustained by natural gasses

Images filter by aquatic guests
Suspended in their domain
Visiting for your prescribed time
After you they’ll still remain

Amazing sights incredible risks
The tales that you could tell
Safe on top and warm again
Cradled within the bell

Working blind mechanical magic
The stress the job demands
Directed by your inner ear
As your wallet expands

Orders sent down from up above
On those your life depends
Steering you on towards your goal
Kept safe watched over by friends

Amidst the bubbles playing the odds
Submersing as long as you can
Breathe in breathe out as you rise
All part of a master plan

Back on the surface zeroed out again
Once more deemed a survivor
Under pressure all the time
Such is the life of a diver
