Hey there, this is a silly poem!. It only has eighteen lines but I wrote it just then out of my head!.

I never thought listening was good,
Until my first Boyfriend said I should!.
I brushed him off like dust,
Until he said I must!.

He told me one day I’d get caught out,
When I ignored him he started to pout!.
He said I should listen,
His eye seemed to glisten!.

The next day I went to enter a room,
He said should not, it would be my doom
Once again I was ignorant,
My soul was indignant!.

So I opened the door,
And fell floor
A pail of goo had hit me
Listening is good you see!.

My boyfriend he laughed,

I'll help you write your poem!.!.!.but you have to do at least some of the work!. First of all, although it has to rhyme, it doesn't have to be rhymed couplets, and it doesn't have to rhyme every line!.!.!.abcb is a perfectly adequate rhyme scheme!. For example, your end words would be:

can
will
know
still

as in!.!.!.

I know you think I can
remember things you will
say you think I know
as if I was listening still

notice that the end of the line does NOT have to be the end of the phrase!.!.!.this is called "enjambment" and it really helps when you're trying to write in rhyme!.!.!.not only because you don't have to find end words that rhyme, but because it helps your poem flow from one line to the next without sounding "rhymy"!.

Just continue this pattern with other words until you've said what you need to say about why it's important to listen the first time!. It really isn't as difficult as you mgiht think and the exercise will do you good!.!.!.and you'll feel better about having done it with help instead of having someone do it for you!.

My teacher and parents have all stressed to me that it is so vital

To listen the first time I'm instructed, like being quiet at my sister's recital!.

Otherwise, I am headed for all kinds of trouble

Since everyone is tired of always telling me double!

"You must do this!" or "You can't do that!" "When you're in church, take off your baseball hat!"

If only I had a better memory I'd be in my glory

So I could remember even the shortest story!

But again I must listen the first time whenever I'm told

And if not, I won't have a clue as I grow old

Of what's wrong or right - what did my mother last say!?

Yikes! How am I going to get through the day!?!

All of this has put my mind in a tizzy;

All of a sudden I feel rather dizzy!

Off to the doctor my parents have rushed me

As he's poking in my ear, I hear the doctor say, "Well, I'll be!"

"This whole time" he says to my parents, "we've thought your son was to blame

For not listening better!. OH, I feel so ashamed!

You see" he continued with his head hung low,

"I never before took any tests to let us all know !.!.!.

That he isn't guilty of having bad listening skills,
