HUNTED

Dry grass rustles, dampening senses,
Ears twitch at every snapped twig,
Resting in rows, leery of hunters,
Bow and arrow, deadly silence,
Send the fawns scurrying,
There, in the corm, thinly disguised,
See the gleam in his eyes,
Whispering chert,
Strikes and burrows,
Stagger away, to the forest,
Who are these new predators on this land,
These uprights, this carnivorous man…!.

as for punctuation I like to give the readers something to do!.!. why should they just sit around looking bored!?

Some times punctuation is absolutely necessary and there are others where no punctuation is a kind of emphasis!.

Haiku requires that no western techniques be utilized, including punctuation and capitalization!.!. I do appreciate the simplicity of this method of writing!. I know that in many cases dialogue is lacking its quotation marks and I personally feel this is both an advantage for the writer and the reader!. Print is less busy and the pages are much more aesthetically constructed!. The finished work is prettier!. I think I opt for less rather than more!. but care must be taken that the message has not been corrupted or violated!. Work that is failing to pass on the pauses and inflections that appropriate punctuations can supply may be why people do not read and appreciate poetry as they seem to once have done!.

Try the old:

that that is is not that that is not and that that is not is not that that is is that not it

lack of punctuation make it almost entirely undecipherable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on the writing, just like speech, you have formal and informal dialects based on settings and the audience!. I think in a poem you could punctuate anyway you see fit - I think this works stylistically!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
