Question: What is a coin worth!?
Coins
by Elaine P

Coins used to clink
as they hit the ground
announcing their presence
with joyful sound!.

Coins used to sing
like musical notes
now they clunk
like billy goats!.

Coins weight me down
they fill my purse
they are worthless now
and getting worse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Cool poem, Elaine P!. And so true!

The rest of this answer doesn't fit the Poetry category so much as Crafts & Hobbies, but there's a website that can tell you exactly what your coins are worth - at least for US and Canadian coins, it can tell you what their metal content is worth, that is:

In some cases, as with some older US and Canadian pennies and nickels, these coins are worth two or even three times their face value! Hopefully, at least those coins can still clink and sing!

On the flip side, there's always this !.!.!. a reminder that where governments are involved, billy goats always seem to drop by:

It now costs more to make a penny that it is worth!. Soon - the new pennies - will look like the steel pennies in WW II!. I love the huge silver dollar - it used to be the sign of a gambling trip to Reno - a long time ago - before they switched to those gaudy chip things!. The delightful Susan B's - about the size of a quarter - how many times did I almost give out two (2) to buy a newspaper!? ?Www@QuestionHome@Com

A penny used to be enough to satisfy my sweet tooth!. I could bye 10 pieces of candy for a penny, and if I only wanted 5, I would get back either five 1 mil coins, or one five mil coin!. A mil was 1/10th of a cent, and was originally intended for tax purposes when sales tax was slight!. Mils were metal to start with with, then changed to red, green and blue plastic coins before being phased out!. I could go to the movie with a quarter, and get in, get a bag of popcorn, get a box of MilkDuds, a soft drink, and go home with a nickel, unless I bought a 6 inch sour pickle!. Now you need a major credit card and 3 forms of I!.D!. to go to the consession counter at the theater!. Besides, you would need a wheelbarrow if you paid using coins!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Coins used to stack
Like slices of bread
with worn faces of kings
long since dead!.

Two hundred and forty
Pence in one Pound
Each lost penny
valued when found!.

Now plastic is used
To pay all the bills
Since reality would drive us
To reach for the pills!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
