dreams of greener air
flood my breathing mind
from the crisp air bitten
to the crushed crumbs of laughter
where i saw your face standing tall as a piece of forest
overshadowing my view of height and depth
in the very heart of the moment
you told me the longer i waited
the less i'd find later
in the breaking concrete and gravel
that would turn my feet to dust
and slice my thoughts like wind
my own heart imprinted behind in the ground
along with the soles and heels you'd leave
to show me you were beside me
