Question: Poets, do you ever feel like you can't talk to people!?
Do you only feel like you can say the right words to folks through your writing!?
I realize most people do not understand poetry, and only comprehend common language, so do you feel at times, that when you speak, you cannot, with whomever you are conversing with, help understand your meaning!?
I can't seem to help it, when I speak to someone, and try to talk "normally", I stutter, and there is a confused look on the other person's face!. When I speak normally (as myself, in a poetic fashion) I get funny looks from others!.
Does any other poet have this "problem"!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes with poems you can get out your inmost feels that you couldn't tell any one else most poem come from your heart and that is why most people can't pick up the meaning of the poem unless someone else has been through the same thing as you have them they can pick up what you are saying
and can identified with what you have written

sometimes, I do get that!. just practice saying what you mean, I know that sounds funny, but sometimes I pretend I'm writing in my head the words I want to say, that helps when I get like that, once you have done it a while, it gets better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The *exact* right words, when I need them most, as when communicating with a loved one something that may tick them off or otherwise upset them with me -- then I prefer to write (but of course not in poetry)!.

I do find it hard to talk about poetry to or with people, especially before I know how they feel about poetry!. I find that many people are either intimidated by poetry ("Oooooohhhh, that's so hard! I'll never get it, so I won't even try!.") or think they're *above* poetry ("Oh that!? I did that for half a year in high school, so it's something I don't need to think about anymore!.")!.

When I write my poetry, I try to layer it a bit so that it has a surface and a deep end (in most cases)!. The *shallow* reader has something to enjoy, and those that want to pick at it a bit can find something deeper as well, hopefully!.

Have a great night!Www@QuestionHome@Com
