Question: What did e!. e!. cummings mean when he said "Nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands"!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Cummings often cared less for "meaning" that "imagery"!. In this particular poem he's "probably" saying that the rain, which is able to open the petals of the rose, has hands larger than those of his beloved, that can open him up with the voice in her eyes!.!.!.that "her" hands are smaller than those of even raindrops!. It's an image you need to "feel" in your soul rather than "see" with your eyes!.!.!.and e!.e!.cummings was very good at those kinds of images!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
