Rock piles hold many mysteries, and imaginations are all that were needed!.

Rockpile Tales

When spring plantings were done
before cultivating began
builders, rock piles emerged
pressed into service one more time

Rocks cursed all things man made
when heaves from winter freeze would push
mines waiting to break steel
and curse those who would venture forth

Thar's rock would Captain shout
bedecked on seat above the sea
with gloved hand pointing out
we jumped from trailer flat to grab

On and on!.!.!.hour and hour
A half mile up and half mile back
picking rocks!.!.!.softened soil
acres passed as our muscles ached

Work yes, but boys are boys
our toil turned to mining diamonds
rocks thrown from trailer deck
were thrown with force to break apart

Secrets unearthed!.!.!.opened
sunlit crystals from ancient past
trophies!.!.!.our collections
while Captain smiled and shook his headWww@QuestionHome@Com
