I'm big on small details!. A whole poem about a man dropping his groceries!. Something I notice in traffic!.

I do sometimes go off into my own drama, feelings of unrequited love, that sort of thing!. But I personally am more intrigued as an observer than in pouring all my emotion onto a page!. I know that's a different answer than a lot of folks are giving, but that's where I'm at!.

When stuck, I just do a bunch of freewriting on scrap paper until an idea hits me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What bugs you or causes an emotional reaction in you!. By finding what you have strong feelings about, you can translate it more easily to a poem using those feelings, and a reader will also feel it and understand it more easily than just picking a subject that doesn't connect to you!. I think poetry is emotional, and so you need to find something emotional to write about!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes I write about what I see in nature, I once wrote a poem about two girls who were orphans during the Hiroshima/Nagasaki attack inspired by the documentary "White Light/Black Rain"!. My poetry often has a spiritual theme (I'm not religious) about my existence and spiritual experience, about human existence and current events!.
Whatever moves me but sometimes an idea just pops into my head and I'll write something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
