Question: My peom deals with homelessness what we can do to help if we just listen!?
FEED ME I”M HUNGRY
I don’t need your plate of food, I don’t need your coat, and I don’t need your shelter
I do need your time, I do need your hand, I do need your support (Help me Stand)
A coat can only provide warmth, it can’t provide dignity!.
A plate of food can only provide sustenance, it can’t provide pride
Shelter can only provide protection from the elements, it can’t provide courage
Look through my eyes – into the window of my soul-
Can you not see that you feed, clothe and shelter a lost spirit!?
Teach me to communicate, and I’ll tell you what I need!.
Teach me a skill, and I’ll work with my hands and mind!.
Teach me to think, and I’ll solve my own problems!.
Give me direction, and I’ll get my own job!.
Give me direction, and I’ll build my own house!.
Give me direction, and I’ll feed myself for the rest of my life!.
Help me, and then allow me to stand on my own two feet, and
I will regain my pride, my security, my courage and my dignity
Then you and I will walk together into a prosperous future – Kindred Spirits
I don’t need your Charity – I need your unbridled Love!.

That is so true!.!.!.!. As we sit in our homes with the heat on, watching our TV’s and answering our phones…!.Sending out the last minute e-mail before bed or putting our blackberry on charge… There are not to many of us left in this world that take the time to think about the lost souls that are out there… The ones that shelter themselves under our bridges or in the doorways of stores…The ones who fight to get into a shelter before the door closes and they say “Sorry we are Full”… The ones that have to rummage through the trash to find the half eaten sandwiches or any form of food so that they can make it through one more day…
As they sit there we must remember that every time we look in their direction we are looking at someone’s …Mother…Father… Sister… Brother… Grandmother… Grandfather…!. Niece…Nephew… Cousin…”War Veteran “ and if our society took one second to look pass the dirty clothes/skin etc they would see that there is a human being that deserves so much more then what they are getting out of life…That not all of us have been given the basic tools to survive in life and that not all of us have been given the opportunities that so many get and take for granted…
Let us not forget as we walk by in our designer clothes or drive by in our BMW’s and look down at these individuals or slur out remarks that are degrading… That there is a story to why they are there and not all are drunks or drug addicts… That everyone is entitled to receive dignity and respect…Let us not forget that we have the power to change this and that if we only took a moment out of our day to make someone’s life a little more easier that it can be so much more rewarding then anything else…Remember by giving a helping hand to someone who need it and giving them some guidance or support to try and change their situation can truly be someone’s blessing… Although the less fortunate need societies help in the little monies they receive or the hand outs of food… If they were given the tools in life…They would not be those sad faces we see everyday on the street…!.They are not there to bug you no matter what you may think… They are there to survive…!.
To everyone who is homeless tonight my thoughts and prayers are with you and I choose not to be the one who walks by you and I choose to be the one who helps you…
