The Gift

Wisdom, left the house,
never knocked
again!.
Didn't whisper
a word!.

The beautiful
dark eyed angel,
beloved,
despised,
never caring which,
left a gift
on my doorstep!.

Sometimes,
it was a necklace,
diamonds made
out of tears,
other times
a journal,
where I scribed memories
in pink ink!.

One time
it was a razor,
frightening and
crystalline,
and I laid it
aside,
waiting for the
shift!.

It has been a hammer,
a diaper,
a band-aid,
a credit card,
a car key,
a condom,
a Bible,
a pentagram,
a whisper,
a hug,
a kiss,
a child!.!.!.

but it's true form
has never changed!.
When Wisdom went,
she left a box,
wrapped in newspaper!.
