Bond

a devotion,
a trust forged;
tested
in the fires of life!.
a bond
that will last
through time!.
old lovers,
no longer lost
to uncertainty of youth,
strong with faith;
courage born of adversity!.
all that matters now,
in this part of the journey,

Your poem has all the right elements, but it comes off a little disjointed!. Since your poem is entitled "bond", I'd put that word either at the beginning or near the end, rather than cite it 1/3 the way through your poem!.!.!.it makes the rest of the poem seem anticlimatic!. I'd suggest you analyze your poem and try to distill the parts that are essential to its meaning, then arrange them in a coherent order!.!.!.and if you must use the word "bond" in the poem, you'll get more effect if it's at the beginning so the rest of the poem describes what your perception of "bond" is!.!.!.or, simply leave it in the title and not reference it in the body of the poem!.

Your poem really has the beginnings of a good literary work!. Remember though what makes a poem good is that it should bring out the aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its ostensible meaning!.

Poetry should be metaphorical in nature, and provide an inner meaning that should not always be said outright!. Keeping this in mind, I think you definitely have the potential to write some good poems!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
