Question: I'm introducing my creation of "Symbolistic poetry" in a book, How do I keep people from stealing my idea!?
My creation was used in an anthology with the promise of a special section for "Symbolistic Poetry" that never happened but, a poem was published that was of "Symbolistic Poetry" without the credit where credit was due!.!.!.

I have done a "poor mans copyright" that will hold up in court if nessescery (spelling lol) but, now with the new book coming out, do I have the right to claim "Symbolistic Poetry" as my very own creation!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are talking about Oh What a Tangled Web, I don't really see why you are saying you did not get the credit that was due you!. The poems that you submitted and agreed to see published (you signed a contract, remember!?) were attributed to you!. The different sections of the books were decided by the editors and were never mentioned in the contract!. Editing is a difficult job, and it evolves as it goes along!.
So, you can claim anything you want about Symbolistic poetry in your own book!. I would, however, advise you to choose another name, as Symbolist poetry already exists and it might lead to confusion!.

EDIT: huh!? No need to scream at me!. I am being courteous!. I said "confusion"!. I did not say it was the same!. But if you don't want me to answer your questions, block me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here's the deal!.!.!.you say that you submitted a poem that was to be used in an Anthology!.!.!.did they publish your poem or not!? If they did, did they credit you for the work!? Did they merely use your "title" for someone else's work!? If you can show that your poem was published without giving you credit, or giving credit to someone else, you "might" have a case of copyright infringement that could result in a monetary award!.!.!.after legal costs!. You can email me with particulars if you'd like and I'll take a look at your situation to see if I think it worth your time and money to pursue legal action!. I am not a lawyer, but I can tell you whether I think you should contact one in this situation!. You can email me directly at newpoetspress@yahoo!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com

The word you speak of is in common use!. Symbolist poetry has been around since the 1800's!. I do not know of the type of poetry you have penned, but my question from an outside view is why do you think the word symbolistic is unique!? And why would you use it when it is so close to symbolist poetry!? If you feel you have something unique, then why not spend some more time creating a word or phrase that denotes it!. While no lawyer, I have spent years in the corporate world with trademarks, etc!. Your word to me would be hard to defend!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i hope you are not holding emails as proof of "poor man's copyright"!.
Traditionally that is done with a sealed and delivered through the US Mail with canceled stamp as proof of date of creation and is only opened in a court of law or in the presence of a notary public!.
if it's yours shout it to the roof tops!
If you withhold ownership false assumptions can crop up and complicate things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Plagiarism" is much less prevalent than you might think amongst "amateur" poets, writers, and musicians!.!.!.

It might be a problem if you were Scott Stapp from the band Creed stealing a song from Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, but!.!.!.

Right now!.!.!.to tell you the truth!.!.!.if somebody "known" stole one of my songs, I would be proud as punch!.!.!.

Because that would prove I've got what it takes!.!.!.

But they only get "one" stolen gift from me!.!.!.

The rest, are ALL mine!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but symbolism is older than poetry!. Every letter written in every poem ever written has as its root, symbolism!.

The rights to the origin of the written word cannot be secured!. It is beyond public domain and therefore cannot be stolen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
