My understanding is that they do not necessarily have to fit that syllabic constriction (but some teachers are pretty strict about it)!. Traditionally, nature is a theme in haiku!. Always nature!. In the traditional Japanese style, they usually have a "kigo" or "season word" that represents one of the four seasons!. Good haiku is surprisingly very descriptive, despite it's length!. Haiku is a relatively new one!. The Haiku syllable count is for the Japanese language!.
