Question: What the heck is a "Haiku" poem!?

Haikus are often thought of as having the 5-7-5 syllable structure!.

My understanding is that they do not necessarily have to fit that syllabic constriction (but some teachers are pretty strict about it)!.

Traditionally, nature is a theme in haiku!. Always nature!.

An amazingly thorough and interesting article about the haiku is at wikipedia, actually, via the link below!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A haiku is a Japanese style poem characterized by a five syllable line, followed by a seven syllable line, and ended by another 5 syllable line!. In the traditional Japanese style, they usually have a "kigo" or "season word" that represents one of the four seasons!.

Good haiku is surprisingly very descriptive, despite it's length!. Bringing forth a plethora of images and other sensations with only a few choice words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
