Question: Are any of these metaphors!?
when youre not here my eyes are waterfalls
or
to me anything you say is a song
or
in the end, your love is the heart in me


i have to write a sonnet with 10 syllabels per line and has to have a metaphor and these are what i think might be metaphors, but i could never really understand what a metaphor is!.!.!. if these aren't do you know waht i could make as a metaphor that rhymes with the last words(if you don't know this part that's okay)!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes!.!.!."my eyes are waterfalls" is a metaphor, so is "anything you say is a song" and "your love is the heart in me"!. A metaphor is when you say one thing is another thing; a simile is when you say something is "like" another thing!. If you wanted to change your first metaphor into a simile, you'd say, "my eyes are like waterfalls"!.!.!.that's the only difference!.!.!.a metaphor says "it is" and a simile says "it's like"!.

All similes are metaphors, but not all metaphors are similes!.

When you describe an object or a feeling using something other than a simple adjective, that's metaphorical usually!. For example, "his shirt is red" is not metaphorical!. However, if you say, "his shirt is as red as a fire truck," that's a metaphor!. Similes are the most basic metaphors, a good way to understand them!. They use "like" or "as!."
