There is a bitter sense to this poem!. Toasting a severing!. A celebration marking the cracks and fissures of a relationship--very strong!. The laughter to me conveys not as a reminder of joy mixed in pain, but instead a sense of surrounding laughter from the crowd that is more sardonic and bitter!. Perhaps even the speaker laughing painfully at their own situation!. I like this very much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It sounds to me like there is a parting of the ways occurring and laughter is being used as a sort of defense to cover up the pain that is being felt!.
