Here is something unique: a poem from a Japanese citizen during the American occupation of Japan about General Macarthur:

"Ake-gane wa ima Shikishima ni nari-wataru
Mezame yo tami to tsuku hito ya tare"

which loosely translated means:

"The bell tolling the hour of dawn rings throughout the Land of the Nipponese/Who is the man who strikes the bell arousing the people of the Land from their slumber!?"
