I'd like to take a special trip,
To Mars in my own rocket ship!.
To sit in the communal dome,
Where poets all can be at home!.
To write my verse and read aloud,
And hope to do the poets proud!.
To listen to the words of peers,
Without the constant fear of jeers!.
Alas I fear this cannot be,
My age may be the end of me!.
The age of travel to the stars,
Or even to the place called Mars,
Is not yet in our future plan,
Though I will go there if I can!.
Should I not make the trip this time,
Someone please take this little rhyme!.
Read it to the group up there,
Then tape it to my reading chair!.
You'll feel my spirit as it hears,
