It made me feel great!
A letter from home,
A picture included.
For a moment, I smelled your hair again.
I was there again.
Smiling.

There were no IEDs.
The air smelled like flowers, no gunpowder.
We walked in the garden after dinner.
Smiling.

The sun wasn't a source of heat on the sand,
But instead,
Was the radiance of love between us.
How I would shine when I saw you.
We'd smile.

While I was smiling at your letter,
A bullet found it's mark.
I got blood all over your picture.
Sorry.
But when I died I was calling you.
I smiled.

i wish you would write a book because i love poetry that makes me think like that

i could picture this as i read it, it's very touching and beautiful.

Wow that was so lovely and so sad but true what it feels like in the battlefield as your only hope is home',,,I give our service men and women their props daily ' as they do deserve it..

I think that this is the BEST work you have ever done !

This poem drew me in. I reaced the end and was deeply saddened for all this madness that war brings and the end of the love. So final.
